The village of Tavertet is known to be one of the most picturesque corners<\/strong> of the Osona region. Visiting it guarantees tranquility and peace, as it is located in an unbeatable natural environment. In the village, there are Romanesque monuments such as the hermitage of Sant Corneli, the parish church of San Bartomeu Sesgorgues, or the church of Sant Cirst\u00f2fol (which was the first building constructed in Tavertet).<\/p>\n

Beyond its architectural appeal, what truly stands out about Tavertet are the panoramic views it offers of the Sau reservoir<\/strong>. Additionally, the village has the “mirador de los riscos” (cliff viewpoint), providing a privileged viewpoint of the area. Taking a stroll through Tavertet is one of the best plans to discover the surroundings of Osona as a couple or with children.<\/p>\n

2. Alpens<\/h3>\n

In the Llu\u00e7an\u00e8s region, bordering with Ripoll\u00e8s but still within Osona, we find Alpens. Espinelves is the epitome of a rural village. Although it belongs to the province of Girona, it is still within Osona, and the church of San Esteve takes center stage, with great value for its Romanesque architecture. All the houses in the village are grouped around the church, creating a very picturesque landscape. Beyond its architectural heritage, Espinelves’ natural environment is exceptional, as it is located in one of Catalonia’s largest forested areas, perfect for family excursions and walks. If there’s a special moment in Espinelves, it’s the “Fira de l\u2019Avet” (Fir Fair)<\/strong>. As Christmas approaches, the village transforms into a magical nativity scene.<\/p>\n

4. Sant Pere de Torell\u00f3<\/h3>\n

Sant Pere de Torell\u00f3 is a simple and charming village, ideal for a getaway. Beyond the typical rural municipality of the region, the natural surroundings of the village are what stand out the most, with many options to visit as a couple or with family and children of all ages. The “Fageda de Grevolosa”<\/strong> is one of the best-known places in Sant Pere de Torell\u00f3, as the centuries-old trees impress everyone, both for their size and the beauty of the forest. This beech forest seems like something out of a fairy tale.<\/p>\n

Another essential point to enjoy Osona to the fullest is the sanctuary of Bellmunt<\/strong>, from where you have privileged views of the plain of Vic, the Pyrenees, and the Valley of Ges. Additionally, it is said that Viladrau was the birthplace of the bandit Serrallonga and where some witches also lived.<\/p>\n

Beyond its historical heritage, Viladrau stands out for its natural landscape, with places like Coll de Joan<\/strong> or Sierra de Rosquelles, perfect for organizing excursions of all levels and for all types of groups.<\/p>\n

6. Rupit i Pruit<\/h3>\n

Visiting Rupit and Pruit is like taking a trip back in time to the medieval era<\/strong>. The two villages, which have always been connected, were founded in 1000, with the castle of Rupit. Now, they are some of the most beautiful villages in the area, ideal for a romantic getaway<\/strong>. The wooden and stone houses and the narrow streets still seem medieval and have a very special and unique charm in Osona.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Agullola and the river that crosses the town are some of the natural attractions of Rupit, which is undoubtedly one of the most popular villages in the Osona region. Rupit and Pruit receive many tourists throughout the year who want to visit its streets and some well-known spots like the hanging bridge<\/strong>, and that’s why there are guided tours of the medieval center of the town that are very interesting, especially for families and children of all ages. It’s the best way to deeply understand the history and anecdotes of one of the most charming villages in Osona.<\/p>\n

Like Sant Pere de Torell\u00f3, Vidr\u00e0 is a village known for its views. These can be visited on foot or by bicycle, after exploring the historic center of the village that belonged to the family of Guifr\u00e9 el Pil\u00f3s. Like Rupit, the village of Vidr\u00e0 receives many visitors, so guided tours exist to learn about the history of the area and see up close how rural life is lived, with various activities for both adults and children.<\/p>\n

8. Sant Juli\u00e0 de Vilatorta<\/h3>\n

Sant Juli\u00e0 de Vilatorta is the village for lovers of modernist art<\/strong>. The municipality has a modernist route, through which all family members can discover the buildings and architectural monuments of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as learn more about how families in Sant Juli\u00e0 de Vilatorta lived at that time. Among the best-known modernist buildings in the village are the Roser school, the Casal Nuria, and the Park of the Seven Fountains.<\/p>\n

Architectural monuments are not the only historical heritage in Sant Juli\u00e0 de Vilatorta. You can also visit the Vilatorta Aerodrome<\/strong>, an airfield built by the Spanish Republican Air Force in 1938. Sant Juli\u00e0 de Vilatorta is full of history lessons.<\/p>\n

9. Folgueroles<\/h3>\n

For enthusiasts of Catalan literature, Folgueroles is a must-visit. In this village, one of the most beautiful in the Osona region, Jacint Verdaguer, one of the most relevant poets of modern Catalan literature, lived. The Verdaguer House Museum is perfect for learning more about the life of the poet and his renowned work. The museum also organizes highly recommended literary routes.<\/p>\n

It’s also a good idea to visit the dolmen of Puigleslloses, one of the best examples of its kind in all of Catalonia.<\/p>\n

10. Tav\u00e8rnoles<\/h3>\n

Sant Feliuet de Savassona, Sant Pere de Savassona, Santa Margarida de Ardola, and Sant Esteve are the protagonists of Tav\u00e8rnoles. These are the four Romanesque buildings of the village, making Tav\u00e8rnoles one of the most beautiful rural municipalities in Osona. Beyond the Romanesque churches, Tav\u00e8rnoles is known for its archaeological richness,<\/strong> as Neolithic sites such as the Reguera de la F\u00edbula, the Stone of Sacrifice, and engraved stones have been found. There are also remains from the Bronze Age<\/strong> and the Roman period, making Tav\u00e8rnoles a small village with enormous historical and archaeological wealth. The village is a must-visit for those most interested in history and archaeology and is highly recommended for families with children.<\/p>\n
